Vindication: Four Player Co-op in Halo 3 Confirmed by Bungie

I’m having a deja-vu writing this entry, you know why?  Cause I confirmed this 18 days ago, and was blasted across the entire Internet.  Trolls came from all sides to call me a diluted fanboy, conspiracy theorist, “a ****ing idiot”, and many other things that never even saw the light of day on my comments because they were blocked due to them being nothing but curses.  As usual, the e-mail box was full of hate mail and death threats, my favorite.  A lot of other people attacked my story and me because of the format of this site.  I guess because I don’t have ads plastered all over every page that I don’t seem credible to some.

Here’s the thing when it comes to gaming news and any other form of news.  The main stream news is not going to give you every piece of news, because they either don’t know it themselves, or don’t want you to know it.  Big, lethargic news sites are a dying breed, and blogs are now the rising stat for the latest, breaking news.  Individual people, who have a passion for what they are doing, and aren’t being paid to do what they do, are going to be the best at telling the truth, and analyzing a situation, and that is exactly what I did.  I heard Jeff Bell’s comment, I read into it, I checked out Jeff Bell’s history, found out that he had had a big mouth before, and wrote the article.  This all took about an hour.  Since then, the “debate” has raged on that Halo 3 wouldn’t even have any online co-op at all, and you know why?

A few days after my article hit the front page of Digg.com, an EGM article about Halo 3 leaked online, and they talked about how online co-op isn’t in the game right now and that they’re having trouble with it.  You might think that blows my “confirmed” story out of the water huh?  Not quite, due to the EGM article and report being nearly two months old, but it’s just hitting the customers now.

So here’s the deal, if you guys want the latest (true) news, come to sites like this one, or Unscripted360.com, Xbox360Fanboy.com, Joystiq.com, etc.  If you want outdated news, with a slant to whoever paid them the most attention and money that month, go with an IGN, GameSpot, or two-month-old news magazines.

So for the last three weeks, I have come online to find my credibility and reputation slammed hundreds of times because of a two month old article supposedly debunked me, it’s almost comical.  I never said much about it until now, because I knew that I would soon be vindicated, and when I heard the guys from Bungie were heading over to Amsterdam for a Halo 3 hype event, I figured that that is when justice would be served.

I’m not trying to rub it in people’s faces, I just wish, like I said earlier today, that the pointless debates on obvious things would end.  Remember the Assassin’s Creed debate, the F.E.A.R. debate, the Devil May Cry debate, the Crysis debate, and now the (stillongoing MGS4 debate.  It’s time to open your eyes and stop hitting your head against the wall in ignorance every time the truth hits you.

Here’s the article from Joystiq.com on the re-confirmation of co-op:

Speaking at a Microsoft press conference in Amsterdam earlier today, Bungie has confirmed, once and for all, that Halo 3 will feature two to four player online co-operative play over Xbox Live. This news comes after months of rumors and slip-ups, but is extremely appreciated nonetheless.

Details are extremely sparse at the moment (chugging a Mountain Dew while snowboarding with a live bear extreme) but we can tell you this: we have Bungie’s word. Bungie will be issuing an update themselves on this matter over at their website later today, so be patient and we’ll have further information for you as soon as it rolls in.

I’d also like to thank the majority of you that didn’t condemn my article and believed in it.  For those of you who still have a malfunctioning common-sense, Bungie.net will be updated soon with more details on the co-op in Halo 3.

Update: Bungie has posted the update, and as I also theorized, the other three players in the co-op will be Elites.
