Here’s a video showing a small example of how awesome Crackdown will be:
(Thanks DQuartermane for the video)

I second the thank you to DQ that video was great. I think Crackdown is going to surprise so many people, I have to admit I am getting more and more pumped about this game each day.
Beta-schmeta, Crackdown will rule on its own merits. The Halo 3 Beta is just icing on the cake. Any game where you can kick a car into a gang member and kill him is worth $60 in my book…
I happened upon the article on Digg.com with the link to the video and after watching it I freaking wanted to run and out and buy it right then. Holy crap that explosion was freaking awesome, and this game looks awesome. Thought you guys would enjoy, glad you did.
You know I hate to say it but.. I probably won’t be buying crackdown.
Don’t get me wrong here, the demo is great. Tons of fun. But my problem with the game started when I realized the demo.. that’s pretty much it.
No GTA style missions from the other perspective… just…. go stand on this glowy thing, go kill a thug boss, go stand on another glowy thing, kill another boss guy, etc, etc.
I’m sure blowing cars up will be fun and all but.. how long? Running around and messing with things should be secondary, not the primary activity in the game.
I’ll point out one more time that a game rental service is awesome for what David pointed out. I personally use Gamefly, but there are other good ones as well. $10-15 a month lets you play all these games that are fun for awhile but not worth $60 because you won’t play them for the long haul. Another way to look at it is ~4 months of game rentals for the price of one new 360 game that you probably won’t be playing for nearly that long (in most cases).
Most of these rental services offer a week or two trial membership too, so if there is a game you really want to play for a bit for free, you could do that as well.
they are once again selling the 12-month Xbox Live Vision Gold Pack. The price: $54.99. Add $5 for shipping and you’re sitting pretty at $59.99. That’s a full 20 simoleons off the retail price. The bundle comes with a ridiculous amount of stuff. There’s the camera, of course. Then you’ve got a year of Xbox Live Gold, a headset, some arcade games, free MS points
Oh, and a fun thing to try in the demo is to level up your agility all the way and then climb to the very top of the police building that you start at (the one with the three red spotlights on top). Then you can jump all the way down into a little pond at the bottom, which is apparently an achievement in the full game. I thought it was cool anyway…

And yeah, I’m going to bed now. Just finished up some lovely EE homework that I had put off doing this weekend…
