Halo 3 Beta Invite w/Crackdown & More
An upcoming issue of Gamepro has an ad for one of the other big Xbox 360 titles coming out in early 2007, and placed at the bottom of the ad is the announcement that if you buy the game, you get a free invite into the Halo 3 beta. No longer will you have to wonder if you will be picked at random, you can have a guarantee of playing Halo 3 early next year. This makes my theory, that the beta will be out by March at the latest, even more certain. Microsoft announced the beta would be coming in the spring, but Bungie said, “early next year” in the latest update, and now with this announcement, and the fact that Crackdown comes out February 20th, it’s more and more likely.
In other news, reports of PS3s sitting on store shelves continue to be constant. Deacon over at Unscripted360.com has posted a detailed report of his experiences at several stores, and Joystiq.com is also reporting on a similar story, and even have photo evidence of their claims.
Like I said over at Unscripted360.com, it’s a good time for video games, the consumer (and the entire industry) are chipping away at the cancer that has grown inside of it. If only E3 and Lik-Sang hadn’t been murdered in the process…

You’d think, given their history with new formats they wouldn’t try bundling a new sony format with a console. It seems their format, and the high price associated with it will not only die but drag playstation along with it.

I, unlike most if not all on here, want a PS3. I am a fan of many of the franchises on the console, and I only WISH I could walk into a store and see ^that^. I dont think there is a single PS3 anywhere in town, nor a Wii. So I’d assume this kind of buildup is only in small and poor areas.

I want a PS3. I just don’t want to spend $600 on it…

OOPS! Double post…

i want a ps3 but i don’t feel that putting 500-600 down on a system that Sony intentionally makes freeze would be a good investment. so i would want one if i got one for free.

I myself don’t want a ps3 because I just don’t see any reason to get one. It’s $600 for, what, final fantasy XXXVVIIPOTATOLOBSTERMANWICH-XV2 ? Final fantasy is fine and all but how many will the ps3 get, one in 2008 and then, what, maybe another in 09 or 10 and then PS4? That’s hardly worth $600 imo.

David, you act as if FF is the only thing anyone wants on the PS3. I personally cant stand FF, I find it more boring than a daytime soap, but I do want to experience things on PS3 that I enjoyed on PS2 such as Socom, and, GASP!, Killzone.
Sue me.

“I myself” “I just don’t see any reason to get one”
It looks to me like I was talking about me and what I like and the reasons “I myself” didn’t want one. But what the hell do I know, I’m just the guy who wrote the post.

Now guys, calm down.
David, you can not get a PS3 and get the games that are coming to it on another platform (with the possible exception of Killzone).
Twisted, get a PS3 and let us know if you felt it was worth the money and the grand total of 2 exclusives that you listed

Touche David ;-). I never said I’m going to get one, I just said I would like to get one because of the good times I had on the “2 exclusives that I listed.” No way in hell I’m gonna pay $600 for 2 games.

Considering the kind of royal-bullshit that they used with the ps3 killzone I personally wouldn’t support it by buying the game. I mean, that was 5 star, record breaking bullshit.
I mean, I really would get a ps3 IF it were less AND it had more than a couple OMGMUSTHAVE games. But, considering the lack of exclusives, high price and the kind of endless, continuous, lieing, bullshit, etc, etc, that was used to talk about the thing sony can shove it down their throat and choke.
I don’t think that anyone who gives a flying crap about the gaming industry should support sony after everything that’s happened. Let he ps3 flop like a fish, and then if they come back for round 4 with the playstation and straighten their act up, then, maybe.

Can’t wait for Halo 3, lets just hope no cheating occurs or little squeaky voices pop up. I’m ready to spend a lot of my time on it. No need for a ps3 anymore.

[...] There’s also the fact that one of Xbox 360’s main games this winter, Crackdown, which comes out February 20th, will have a Halo 3 beta invitation code sold with it. I find it unlikely that the main beta wouldn’t start sometime soon after that. I believe we will see the pre-beta testing phase begin in late-February, into March, and then the main beta testing will begin by the end of March. The release of the game is still anybody’s guess though, and my guess is still July. The fact that Bungie has been working on this game since late 2004, and also had their team nearly tripled right after Halo 2’s release makes me think that. With Halo and Halo 2, they didn’t begin working on the actual game that was released until less than a year before the game came out, this was due to them scrapping previous builds of the game. There was a lot of wasted time and poor planning it seems when it came to actually developing the physical game. [...]
