Assassin’s Creed - Superior on Xbox 360
We’ve come a long way since E3 2006, where Assassin’s Creed was demonstrated on an Xbox 360 in the PS3 booth while Sony lied that it was exclusive the PS3.
Now just a few months later, the Xbox 360 version is being played at X06 during the press briefing, and the producer of the game has now confirmed that the game will take advantage of the superior hardware within the Xbox 360.
Assassin’s Creed producer Jade Raymond has let slip what she must have assumed was a minor detail, suggesting the Xbox 360 version of Ubisoft’s upcoming release will boast superior crowd AI when compared to the PlayStation 3 version. She points to 360’s more-capable threading technology as the reason for this slight improvement. Raymond also noted that the Xbox team is working on some special achievements for Assassin’s Creed, but she did not comment on the state of PS3 “entitlements.”
Many had anticipated that Assassin’s Creed would be one of PS3’s future hits (a reason to invest in the pricey console), if not the killer app — but that was when AC was “exclusive” to Sony’s console. Will news that the Xbox 360 version is apparently “smarter” drive some console sales away from Sony and into Microsoft’s corner? Will the MS camp try to market this detail to its advantage? This is an issue to watch.[Update 1: clarified wording with regard to comment #4.]
Update 2: As described in comment #7, IGN writes: “you will actually feel for handholds.” We assume this means the (Xbox 360) controller will vibrate when Altair is in position to use safe hand- and footholds. But with a lack of rumble support, how will the PS3 handle this gameplay feature?
What else does the PS3 have to offer? Oh yeah, a port of Oblivion, which has been on the Xbox 360 since March. That sure is worth $600+tax+HDMI cable…

I wonder what spin the fanboys will put on this one…

Hmmm…I really hope you use that article I sent you in the quote of the week. For anyone who hasn’t seen it yet, it will be awesome! Fun with Sony never ends.
And in reply to the guy above me, the following is a typical fanboy response:
“So what if the 360 version is *supposedly* smarter? The PS3 version comes stamped on a Blu-Ray Disc! What more could you ask for?! Also, who needs rumble? Our tilt-detection will more than make up for such a silly ‘gimmick’. Did I mention that it will bear the Sony *and* Playstation logos simultaneously? And, the PS3 version will be the only version the ‘cool’ kids buy, so why go with the ghetto 360 version? Did I mention Blu-Ray?”
