Xbox 360 Vision, MS Execs on Blu-Ray, & the Xbox 360 Spring Update
Chris Lewis and Neil Thompson have given their thoughts on the Blu-Ray format and Sony’s strategy of using the PS3 as a trojan horse for it. Go here for the article.
The upcoming Xbox 360 Vision Webcam will be released September 19th in USA and October 2nd in Europe & Asia.
Also, the highly anticipated “Spring Update” for the Xbox 360/Xbox Live will be coming out this week, and that should be up either tomorrow or Thursday!
Hitman: Blood Money will be on shelves tomorrow or Thursday (depending on your store/location) as well.

Can’t wait for the update! I love the fact that the 360 can continue to improve with the aid of updates. I also can’t wait for the “Blue tooth” headset for the 360, and GEARS OF WAR. Sorry about the “Caps”

The Wireless headset is going to be awesome, but it’s not using Blue Tooth. It’s using the same great technology that the wireless controller uses. Blue Tooth isn’t that great of a tech for wireless gaming.

NO UPDATE YET!!! I guess it could come on Friday.

It’s possible, but they may have run into something that is going to make it wait another week. Today is not over yet either though.

I usually don’t disagree with how MS or the Xbox team does things, but in this case, I can see this occuring again and again. The Xbox team seems to have decided never to give any sort of date at all, not even a rough estimate for things, because of the backlash the immature people give them if they’re a little late. I think the Xbox team should just ignore those people, and give those who can handle not the most accurate of release dates.
We shouldn’t let the immature kids ruin the communication between the team and community. Instead of everyone thinking it was coming this week, they could have come out and said, “We’re shooting for this week, but it’s possible it could get pushed to next week.” if that is the actual case of course.
I say this, cause at this point, when it comes to things like this, or whatever else that is upcoming, we’re completely in the dark as far as releases go, because they don’t want to upset the complainers even more. Well guess what, they’re still complaining, non-stop, everyday, that it’s not out yet. At least if they give a tenitave date on something and miss it, the complaining only starts AFTER that day, and it’s not weeks and weeks of it, “Is it out yet?”.

VERY GOOD POST. I agree with you 100%. On a lighter note, while we are waiting on the update…you should pick up “The Ringer” that movie was really funny.
June 2nd, 2006 at 1:04 pm
You could also play the new Tomb Raider, I finished that game this morning, it’s incredible!
June 2nd, 2006 at 1:04 pm
I saw ‘The Ringer’ too, the day it came out actually, pretty funny.

I’m hoping to get Hitman: Blood Money today actually, having some trouble with the credit card though, very annoying.
June 2nd, 2006 at 1:58 pm
Wonder if your magnetic strip is having some problems. I was going to ask you if you have played Hitman yet, when you do let me know if its good. I would appricate it.
June 2nd, 2006 at 2:03 pm
No, it’s not that, I’ll explain.
I went to Blockbuster (which I do rarely) a couple days ago to rent Tomb Raider: Legend, and they said the card on file was expired (which is impossible by the way), so anyways, all I had was my debit card, so I had to drive all the way home and get my credit card (cause they only accept Credit Cards on file for Xbox 360 games, not debit cards.
So that worked, and I got the game. Today I went in, and tried to rent Hitman and they said, ‘Can’t do it, the card was declined’. It’s because I’m at my $300 limit and just sent in the payment on Tuesday. What I don’t understand is, why was it declined, and why did it let me rent on Wednesday? They shouldn’t have been taking any money out anyway, it’s a valid card, that’s all they need to know. The card companies policy is to never decline your payments either, especially if it’s something like that, so I don’t know what’s going on.

I “think” they “take” money but put it right back to make sure the card is valid. Sort of ping pong it. I can’t belive blockbuster is turning in (always has been I guess) to such pricks. Hastings doesnt make you throw down a credit card to rent 360 games. I can only imagine what they will make you do to rent a more expensive PS3 game. Hope you get it straightened out. Look for me on Live sometime gamertag “Skinny Caleb”

Yeah, it really makes no sense though. Why is their corporate policy so much different for games that are either the same price, or just $10 more than all the other games? Makes no sense, just some over-reactive corporate moron who is way out of touch with what is happening in the industry.
The Blockbuster I always went to and had no problems with just shut down recently, and I’ve had nothing but problems with this other one. Every time I have gone there there is a problem with the account, never once did I have a problem with the other one. I won’t feel bad when this one goes out of business too.
June 2nd, 2006 at 2:55 pm
I am with you. I feel like they try to screw ya too much there. At first my Blockbuster didn’t even have 360 games. It’s a good thing we have a Hastings and they are way kinder.
June 2nd, 2006 at 2:58 pm
Neither did mine. I remember asking right around the time of launch, and they said they don’t have any plans to get any. I remember even saying to someone I know that I doubt that place will be around for long if they’re going to try and ignore the Xbox 360.
A couple months later, I drive by it on my way to work and it’s empty and the logo is off the front. I feel bad for the employees of the store, but not for the company. If they’re going to be so out of touch when it comes to everything, then they will fail…hey…kinda like another company us gamers are familiar with….;-)

I heard from someone at TXB who claims to know someone working on this. Here’s the quote:

Prior to this, a few weeks ago some people were already given the update and have been testing it. I believe that the XBOX 360 team is now fixing the bugs list that was given by their testers. I also know someone who was able to test the new patch as well and it’s well worth the wait.
So there’s a little rumor, “postponed indefinitely” due to a few bugs/tweaks that are being worked on.
