Sony using Xbox 360 to demo Assassins Creed at E3.

By now most of you have probably heard the story about Assassins Creed (an “exclusive” for the PS3) was actually running on an Xbox 360. IGN first ran the story, but then pulled it due to pressure from Ubisoft. Assassins Creed is one of the only things from E3 that Sony fans can latch onto, cause it was the only thing that wasn’t a complete disaster for Sony, and now it looks like it may be the biggest disaster of all. After doing some researching on this story before I posted it, I have found some interesting info; here are some links to do your own digging.

Mirror of the IGN story.

Anyways, from people who were there, the Assassins Creed demo station was using a cheap looking PS3 controller, with a wire going down to a sheet. Every other PS3 demo station had the USB controller bolted down for security reasons. Very suspicious to have only that game on some different kind of setup, and then have these rumors going around.

Assassins Creed debuted at last October’s Microsoft X05 event. This is an Xbox-only expo, and Assassins Creed had already been in development for the Xbox 360 for some time before the event. It’s possible that at E3, they had next to nothing done for the new PS3 version, so they showed the previously worked on Xbox 360 version.

This is just another example of the smoke and mirrors Sony constantly uses to try and make themselves look good in the face of superior competition. They finally show some gameplay and now if this is true, it wasn’t even running on their own system. Now…if the Assassins Creed demo had froze up, we would of known it was the PS3. ;)

I wish Ubisoft would just drop the act, and announce all of their games exclusives for the ‘360.

Sony must be paying them heaps of cash to keep them from jumping ship.

I thought this might be something you’d wanna post here, thanks for the credit.

This is hilarious stuff. Wouldn’t you just love to have been there and yanked the curtain away revealing the 360? See the look on their faces?

NO, they werer using ps3 whats the point of using crap 360.

  4. Lee Says:

Oh wow, this is really something else!

I cannot think of anything more damaging to a reputation than this. It basically says that the 360 is an equal match to the PS3 and Sony have always said that their console is superior.

    *laughs*

Sirvan, I’d give an intelligent response but it’s obvious you’re a troll so uh..

    Eat my shorts. And stuff.

    Mmm… shorts.

Grow up man. Is microsoft paying you for bashing the ps3? No. So there really is no reason for you spouting off that garbage. It’s not like you’re in competition with sony. For the record, ps3 will be better than the 360. And with the original xbox, the 360 will also have a much smaller library to choose from. So quit being a baby.

Hope it does comes to the 360, what blaise said was bullshit and it sounds like that your a ps3 fan boy or girl, I have no bias over microsoft or sony but imo the 360 has a better line up of games and with this only being their one really good game that everybody would want i hope for sonys sake they its a exlusive because it one less reason to buy a ps3 and another great game to go with the other good games coming to the 360.

I also could argue over which console is better all day long but the fact is that people will like the types of games on the ps3 and people will like games on the 360 and as for me i like the games on the 360 and thats why i got it, also the graphics will be the the same on both consoles due to the fact that games a becoming more realistic and if you make it to realistic it will take away and you will not be able to use your imagination.

But some people will actually buy a console for the name, Idiots.

[...] With the launch of the PS3 occurring in Australia and Europe soon (so much for that promised simultaneous worldwide launch) we should have all expected more Sony BS to pop up any day now.  Today’s story might remind of you E3 2006 (RIP E3) where Sony used an Xbox 360 to demo Assassin’s Creed, a game which they swore up and down was exclusive to the PS3.  For one thing, the game was not exclusive to the PS3, and was actually just shown at an exclusive Xbox event.  The Xbox 360 version was being made well before the PS3 version, and that is why an Xbox 360 unit was being used to demo the then supposed PS3 exclusive in the Sony booth.  Anyway, on to the new story.
